It is so hard to even know where to begin when talking about this book.

Seriously by far one of the best books EVAR.

I read this book cover to cover without stopping when it first came out, and even now I can't put it down every time I pick it up.

The way she ties everything up. EVERYTHING. It's crazy! I can't even begin to list all of the tiny little things that you don't even thing of that get slipped into the seventh book.

I've never cried through a book the way I cry when Harry is walking toward the forest. What a scene! And with all of his loved ones showing the way. Chills. Seriously.

The entire struggle searching for the horcruxes - you can feel their desperation. I get so frustrated with them when they're in the forest. and Losing Ron - oh gosh. I get so mad at him, I just want to smack him upside the head!

There is just so much emotion and so much action.

I wont even go into the losses we suffer not only to avoid spoilers but also because I just can't even go there. Even now I tear up thinking about it.

And the finale! When he dares to call him Tom! Love it! And 'Not my daughter you bitch!' SOO good!

The battle of Hogwarts is just the perfect climax. It's like 300 pages on nonstop action!

And one last thing: "Oi! There's a ware going on!!!" IT"S ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!

The Prince's Tale is my favorite chapter in the whole series. I cried more through that than Harry's walk through the forest!

And how about the chapter "Bathilda's Secret"? Can we say CREEPY??

Comments:

Amanda - I totally agree! The whole visit to Godric's Hollow is a very scary chapter - when she turns into the snake? Oh and the old smell? **Shudder**

The Prince's Tale is so good, too - but the walk just gets me.

Comments:

I’ll just start this off with a spoiler alert…because how can you really discuss this book without them? If you haven’t finished it, don’t read my comments here.

That walk was one of the two moments that got me crying on this read-through. The other was when the house-elves joined in the fight. There's just something so moving about picturing them all jumping into the fray, doing what they could to help protect Hogwarts.

I adore the epilogue. I can't wait to see how that's depicted on the screen - though I know it’ll be a couple of years before we get to see it. “I can’t give love to a professor!” Too funny! And Victoire – I’m assuming that would be the offspring of Bill & Fleur? They don’t come out and say it, but that’s my guess, considering the age.

There’s just soo much to discuss from this book, I don’t even know where to head. It truly is ingenious how every little thing gets tied together in this book. My mom – a huge Snape fan – was happy with how his story turned out in the end. She steadfastly maintained, throughout it all, that he must be good.

The scene in King’s Cross Station…phenomenal. And I love what Dumbledore said at the end – “well of course it’s in your head, Harry, but how does that make it any less real?”

Another of my favorite moments from the Battle of Hogwarts was Neville standing up to Voldemort. Who woulda thought that little ole Neville from Book One would turn into such a hero? The way he stabbed Nagini…I just wanted to jump up and scream YAY NEVILLE!

So much more…but I’ll leave it here for now.

You know, the Kings Cross chapter was the only thing I didn't like about this book. It seemed too much like a trick, like Rowling didn't have time to explain everything by the text so there had to be a big long explanation chapter. I don't mind that Harry went to Kings Cross in his head and talked to Dumbledore, and I like the fragment of V under the chair, but I didn't like that it was all just explaining the whole situation to the reader. I would have liked the book to be more subtle than that, like in other books.

I LOVE this book. It's seriously right up there as one of my favorites ever.
I flew through this the first time I read it so I don't think I really teared up, but this time I did! Dobby! sniff. The forrest scene! sniff.
I loved Neville and the sword! I have always loved Neville, so I totally loved that scene.
And I really loved Luna in this one, even though she isn't in it a whole lot I still love her.
And Molly is so awesome at the end!
And the Tom thing is awesome. So is the whole rightful owner of the wand part, I thought that was genius.
I loved him walking into the forrest too, such a great scene. And then coming back out with Hagrid carrying him, I loved that it was McGonagall who screamed first.
And the epilogue at the end - Love it. The names, R&H together, Draco with the receding hairline, so awesome.

Comments:

Omg the whole scene with Bathilda creeped me out so much. When the snake came out of her? ack!

Oh I forgot to mention that I love how they hid Harry at the wedding as a cousin, because seriously who can keep track of all the Weasleys, lol.

Comments:

I haven't finished it... but I am all smiles with the spoilers... while I can't really tell exactly what they mean, I can't wait to get to that part and go "ohhhh yeah!!!" haha!!! eeeek! This one is really good. Agreed - action packed!

Comments:

This book is absolutely AMAZING. You are soooo right, she seriously ties up EVERY.SINGLE loose end. I mean really could JKR be any better?
There is just so much I want to say. When Ron leaves, Percy comes back, Harry as a Godfather and then realizes he is reckless like Sirius. It's all just so wonderful.
I also cried like a baby, and still get all weepy, when thinking about the losses. Hagrid carrying Harry's out of the forest is so heartbreaking because you know Hagrid is dying inside. But what a wonderful way to bring us to the climax. Neville!!! Oh dear sweet Neville. I am still so happy Neville had such a pivotal roll.
Tom... I gasped and my husband thought I was choking until I burst into laughter at this part. Too funny and sooooooo something Dumbledore was smirking at while watching Harry.
I know most people were mad about the spell Harry used at the end, but I thought it was so fitting. Expeliarmus was his go to and he knows how to use it. He is also still a child and still learning magic so it was just perfect. I would have been a little disappointed if he used an unforgivable curse. I know he uses one earlier, but at this point good vs. evil needed to stay that way.
I just love how unbelievable stupid Voldermort is in this one. The entire time he is setting himself up, but he is too pigheaded to realize.
I can't WAIT to see these as movies!

Comments:

To tie everything up like that she must have had a team of people checking to make sure it was all packed up nice and neat. Too bad... an unanswered question may have squeaked out another book. Wishful thinking I know.
When I received my copy I read it in two days... then read it again... slower this time so soak it all in.

Comments:

Lynn - very good point about Harry using Expelliarmus. It was, after all, his signature move! And I do love that Voldemort's arrogance was his undoing - several times over.

Comments:

I'm so sad at the loss of Dobby. I liked him from the beginning... ok, I won't say beginning... it was more of a love/hate thing... but after I got past it... it was pure love. RIP. :(

Comments:

Laura - I see that they are keeping that scene in the movie and I am eternally grateful. That was a huge part for me.

Comments:

SPOILERS!!!

Dobby! Sniff!!!!!!!!!! However, I started crying at Hedwig.........of all the options I'd considered, THAT was not on the list! Fred I had at least considered....... I cried and cried thru this one, along w/ lots of cheering. I have much more to say, but it's late and I'm not ready to sit at the keyboard half the night! LOL

Comments:

Oh yes, Hedwig was sad. Poor Harry. :( Wait about Fred - ahhh, I haven't gotten to that part. Oh no. I'm mad at that little goblin that took the sword and ran! What are they supposed to do now... how are they supposed to get rid of the horcrux! oh no oh no!!! eeeek!!! I'm on pins and needles.

Comments:

Remember that the sword showed up before.........

Well I've had a week from hell, and a bad time for everything here to get cut short. I didn't even know trivia was posted until tonight, and its already closed, therefore.......Congrats Courtney, I don't think anyone could catch you!

xxoo
